Area description

The amazing city of Galway is set on the Corrib River near Galway Bay and boasts sights and activities to suit any taste: Experience famed Irish folk music, exquisite food and drink, medieval castles and a plethora of activities.

The city's tourist office is only 200m from the house and is a great place to start your adventures of the local area. Not to be missed are Lynch's Castle, “the finest medieval town house in Ireland”, the 14th century St Nicholas' Collegiate Church and the Cathedral of Our Lady Assumed into Heaven.

Activities on offer nearby include sailing, fishing, horse riding and cycling and there are several golf courses nearby; the Galway Golf Club is only 3.4km from the house and Cregmore and Galway Bay are within 8km.

And don’t miss your chance to try the area’s delectable cuisine! Be sure to try the Dublin Lawyer (lobster in whiskey and cream) along with varied salmon and cod dishes.
